Overview
NHS Highlands is recruiting for a Social Care Worker within the Care Response Teams (CRT). The CRT delivers urgent and short-term care and support to services across the North Highlands, including Care Homes and Care at Home Services. This role involves providing personal care and support to service users in residential care settings and in people’s homes, contributing to the independence and wellbeing of older people and other vulnerable adults.
Responsibilities
* Provide high quality personal care and support to service users in residential care settings and in home care services.
* Assist care staff to meet the needs of older people and other vulnerable adults, promoting independence.
* Lead a shift as a Social Care Worker (SCW) and administer medication as outlined in the job description.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team, including other NHS professionals and Social Work services, under the supervision of a Manager and Team Leads.
* Be flexible to cover across a wide geographical area in the North Highlands, including potential overnight stays, and work issues such as driving to different locations.
Qualifications & Experience
* Evidence of experience in dealing with vulnerable adults, especially older people, preferably in a caring capacity.
* Demonstrable communication skills, both verbal and written.
* To comply with SSSC registration, in possession of or willing to complete an SVQ Level 3 within an agreed timeframe.
* A driving licence is essential and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Working Arrangements
* 4-on 4-off rolling rota, including weekends and a variety of 11.5-hour shifts, including night shifts.
* Induction will be provided.
Additional Information
* Effective from 1 April 2026, Agenda for Change full-time week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours; part-time hours will be pro-rata with pay adjusted accordingly.
