Our Community Mental Health teams are multi-disciplinary and support adults in the community who experience significant mental health problems including ongoing difficulties as a result of psychosis. The contribution of psychology and provision of psychological interventions are highly valued. We have a strong commitment to providing excellent care and continual improvement.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting time as we change how we deliver community mental health services. The newly integrated CMH team is developing pathways for people with psychosis and enhanced pathways where meaningful engagement can be challenging. You will work closely with senior colleagues across teams to lead service development while delivering psychological interventions to people with greatest complexity.
You will be supported to develop as a psychologist with training opportunities in Family Interventions (BFT), CBT for Psychosis (CBTp) and EMDR, among others. The team has access to Bespoke training and an excellent psychological skills development team.
Responsibilities
* Deliver recovery-focused psychological interventions in the community for people with complex difficulties and their families.
* Promote values that support recovery and aim to reduce social exclusion, stigma, and the disabling effects of psychosis.
* Support Clinical Psychology trainees, Clinical Associates in Psychology, and other practitioners in their training and development.
* Engage in research and contribute to the service’s research vision.
* Provide clinical leadership within the psychology provision of the team.
* Collaborate with senior colleagues on team and service development across localities.
Qualifications and experience
* Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology (or equivalent, HCPC-approved) including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies, and lifespan developmental psychology.
* Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialized areas of psychological practice.
* Professionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC (clinical or counselling).
* Experience working with people with psychosis and delivering psychological interventions for psychosis; good risk management skills.
* Knowledge of cognitive behavioural models to psychosis; interest in ACT, Compassion Focused Therapy, and EMDR would be welcomed.
* Ability to travel during the working day across a large geographical area and work flexibly to meet client needs.
Desirable and professional registrations
* BABCP accreditation or having completed BABCP-accredited CBT training; or commitment to undertake CBT for psychosis training.
