We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Data Center Network Support Technician to support day-to-day operations within a Data Center (DC) environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for asset management, spare inventory tracking, fault remediation, cable patching, labeling, and supporting hardware refresh activities.
This role requires strong organizational skills, technical troubleshooting ability, and experience working in structured data center environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Asset Management
Maintain and update asset records in systems such as Nlyte, CMDB, or other approved platforms.
Ensure accurate tracking of all network infrastructure components, including switches, cables, and console servers.
2. Inventory of Spares
Conduct physical audits of spare network gear (switches, cables, optics) stored in the Data Center.
Update inventory status in Nlyte or designated asset systems.
3. DC Network Device Fault Remediation
Respond to monitoring alerts.
Perform fault isolation and resolution on Data Center network infrastructure onsite.
4. Cable Patching (Ad Hoc)
Execute patching requests based on immediate operational needs or project requirements.
Maintain patch records and update topology diagrams where applicable.
5. Labelling
Ensure all switches are labeled in accordance with Data Center standards.
Apply labels to new patch cables during installation or refresh activities.
6. BAU (Business As Usual) Ad Hoc Tasks
Support operational requests such as port activations, cable tracing, and physical inspections.
Assist with troubleshooting and escalation coordination.
7. Preparation for Hardware Refresh
Prepare racks and cabling for switch installations.
Coordinate with the team for patching and device onboarding activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a Data Center or IT infrastructure environment.
Familiarity with asset management systems (Nlyte, CMDB, or similar).
Basic understanding of network infrastructure components (switches, optics, patch panels, console servers).
Hands-on experience with cable patching and rack preparation.
Ability to troubleshoot hardware/network issues onsite.
Strong documentation and organizational skills.
Ability to follow standard operating procedures and DC standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent).
Experience working with enterprise network environments.
Knowledge of structured cabling standards.
