The FCA regulates UK financial services firms to keep markets fair, thriving and effective. As a Senior Policy Advisor you will shape policy, drive regulatory change, and protect consumers, driving economic growth and shaping the future of UK finance services.
Role Responsibilities
* Use evidence and analysis to shape policy solutions and drive meaningful change by crafting practical policies that directly support the FCA’s strategic commitments.
* Lead policy change and implementation projects, managing complex initiatives with strong governance to deliver real-world impact.
* Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, collaborating with Government, industry leaders and consumer groups to ensure policies are informed, inclusive and widely supported.
* Provide expert policy advice and support to respond to queries, share insights, and guide supervisors, firms and consumer bodies, helping them navigate regulatory expectations with confidence.
* Contribute to high‑stakes regulatory decisions, setting standards for a sector relied on by millions and influencing how financial services operate across the UK.
* Apply analytical and policy expertise to strategic goals, helping the team deliver on the FCA’s business plan and statutory objectives, ensuring work is aligned with long‑term priorities and the public interest.
Minimum Skills Required
* Prior experience in policymaking in a regulator, government department, firm or relevant organisation.
* Strong analytical skills with experience making judgements based on data and evidence.
Essential Qualifications
* Experience identifying key risks to consumers and/or markets and the mitigations available.
* Ability to work autonomously, prioritise and escalations effectively.
* Experience delivering complex projects to tight deadlines with high initiative.
* Inclusive approach, respecting diversity across the FCA and fostering collaboration.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to distil complex information for varied audiences.
