Our Building Services Facilities Management team provides mechanical and electrical maintenance services to hospitals, schools, MOD sites, and other commercial buildings across the UK to ensure they are safe.
We are now looking for enthusiastic Apprentice Mechanical & Electrical Building Maintenance Technicians to join our 2025 development programme and help us shape the future. As an Apprentice Mechanical & Electrical Building Maintenance Technician, you will work as part of a team of engineers ensuring the safety and comfort of building users (staff, visitors, users) by carrying out planned and emergency maintenance on electrical and mechanical plant & equipment.
What you'll do:
1. Work alongside a Mechanical Engineer and learn to complete general plumbing tasks such as fixing sinks, taps, toilets, showers, and baths.
2. Learn to maintain and service heating, water, waste, drainage, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
3. Work alongside an Electrical Engineer and learn tasks such as carrying out small electrical installation works, generator testing, rectifying power loss, emergency light testing, finding lighting faults, and changing plug sockets and switches.
4. Learn to understand and complete building maintenance-related documentation.
5. Understand the value of excellent customer service.
6. You will be on your feet most of the day and use tools to carry out maintenance tasks.
7. Attend college one day per week to study a Level 3 in Building Services Engineering and Maintenance. You will learn service and maintenance techniques related to industrial and commercial mechanical and electrical systems such as heating and ventilation, air, and water systems. You will work with experienced technicians for the remaining four days of the week.
You should hold 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at grade 4 or above for successful enrolment. Additional requirements include:
* An eagerness to work in a team
* Curiosity and enthusiasm to learn
* Reliability
* Living in the UK in the last 3 years and having the right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship required)
* Applicants with a degree in any discipline are not eligible.
