Maternity services at Wexham Park Hospital
The maternity service at Wexham Park Hospital caters to a large, multi‑cultural and multi‑national population. We attend to over 5,000 deliveries per year. The consultant‑led labour ward has 10 delivery rooms, a pool room, a dedicated emergency obstetric theatre and a smaller second theatre for cases such as manual removal of placenta or perineal tear repair. Our caesarean section rate is 35 – 38% along with approximately 25 – 30% epidural rate for labour analgesia. Obstetric anaesthetic antenatal clinics are provided for the high‑risk parturient. HDU care can be provided on labour ward or within the main ICU which is close by. The Birthing Centre, situated near ward 22, is a midwifery‑led birthing suite suitable for low‑risk pregnancies.
