BDP Social Care Ltd are based in March, Cambridgeshire, and provide a range of servicesto children and families, predominantly in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough areas. We are seeking to increase our workforce by employing full/part time/sessionalFamily Workers. Hours of work are between 08.00-20.00hrs, and you will be available for weekends/Bank Holiday working, and 'out of hours' family support on a rota basis. You will have a minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar role and hold a related qualification, equivalent to level NVQ3 - 5, dependent on post applied for. It is essential that you can drive and hold a clean driving license. Applicants must also own a vehicle and have business insurance, suitable for the carrying of service users. JOB DESCRIPTION POST TITLE: Family Support Worker Substantive and Sessional LOCATION: Based at March, Cambridgeshire. RESPONSIBLE TO: BDP Social Care Limited IS THE POST REGULATED OR CONTROLLED ACTIVITY: Regulated DBS: At enhanced level SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES Staff will be accountable to a named manager and undertake: Direct support of children and young people (who will mainly live within their family homes), parents or other appropriate adults responsible for the care of the children. and Undertake other tasks and duties to ensure the physical, emotional and social needs of the children are met and maintained. CHILD CARE PRACTICE Dependent on skills, knowledge and experience, staff will be required to undertake some or all of the following duties and responsibilities: Assess and monitor as required children/young people and family members within their homes andenable parents or other appropriate adults to take responsibility for the safety and well-being of children in their care. Supervise/support contact between children and their parents/other family members and carers. Supervise/support young people in Alternative Education Provision provided by the Company, in response to referrals for young people who are unable to access more mainstream provision due to their behaviour. Contribute to the development of children and young people through the provision of a healthy lifestyle, a variety of appropriate stimulating activities and a consistent and caring adult role model. Being alert to signs of distress or abuse, and to ensuring that the children and young people are monitored and protected. Provide additional support and comfort to children and young people experiencing stress. Address in an appropriate manner with children and young people boundaries to manage their behaviour. Ensure the physical needs of children and young people are being met, e.g. provision of food, clean and appropriate clothing, shopping, bathing, budgeting, or enabling them to carry out these tasks for themselves where age appropriate. Ensuring children and young people are offered and receive education. Ensuring appropriate health appointments are made and met. Talking and listening to children and young people; observing their behaviour and responding appropriately. 3 OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To report immediately to a line manager or other appropriate person, matters of concern or malpractice by professional workers, or evidence which may suggest this. Ensure colleagues are kept fully informed of relevant developments and matters of concern regarding service users. Ensure written records and reports are accurately maintained and shared appropriately in line with the Companys procedures and Data Protection Act. Act as a team member supporting colleagues and being prepared to receive support as necessary. Contribute to and participate in staff and service user meetings and reviews as required, and ensure necessary action is taken in response to decisions made. To act flexibly, within reasonable bounds, to ensure responsibilities are met. To be accountable for monies allocated for specific purposes. To keep abreast of good practice in order to develop skills, knowledge and experience and be prepared to participate in training opportunities.
