Role Description
We are now seeking a proactive and reliable
Group Stores Operative
to join our team. This role will be vital in managing stock, supporting workshop and site teams, and maintaining the company's fleet of vans.
Salary: £25k per annum
Working Hours:
Monday-Thursday
(
7.00 – 15.30), Friday (6.30 – 12.30)
Key Responsibilities:
Stock Control:
Receive, check, and record incoming deliveries of raw materials, tools, and components.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate stock levels across all group divisions (Hobbs Valve, Cambrian Valves, Eurogrind, etc.) using the company's inventory systems.
Order Picking & Packing:
Prepare and issue materials, parts, and tooling to support ongoing jobs in the workshop and on-site.
Goods Out:
Package and dispatch finished products, ensuring correct documentation and courier/transport arrangements.
Equipment Care:
Keep storage areas organised, clean, and safe, with clear labeling and easy access to frequently used items.
Stock Audits:
Assist with regular stock counts and cycle checks, reporting discrepancies, and helping resolve them.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Follow safe handling procedures for heavy materials and equipment, ensuring all storage and movement complies with company policies.
Logistics Support:
Arrange collections, returns, and transfers of stock between group sites when needed.
Fleet Maintenance:
assist in the upkeep of all company vehicles, carrying out regular checks
on fuel, AdBlue, windscreen wash, and other essentials.
Driving:
Stores staff will occasionally be required to deliver goods to customers using a company van.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to streamline stores processes and reduce downtime for manufacturing teams.
Qualifications & Skills
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
* Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
* Previous experience in inventory, stock control, or stores management
* Basic knowledge of vehicle checks
* Competence in using computer systems and inventory software
* Valid Full UK driving licence
* Counter Balance Forklift licence / Electric Pallet stacker license / willingness to undertake training
* Proactive, reliable, and team-oriented mindset
