CDDFT wish to recruit x2 trust grade doctor to our Tier 2 rota. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Surgical skills.
Overview
The successful applicants will join a friendly and collaborative team of consultants, associate specialist and doctors in training. The post is clinically based and includes both Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Full participation in the on‑call rota at tier 2 level is required, 1:8. On‑call duties are based on labour and gynae wards and reviewing emergency admissions along with SHO support.
Daytime duties will include labour ward, elective operating, ward cover and support, and clinical expertise in maternity day assessment units, along with antenatal clinics. Specialist antenatal clinics also run and there will be opportunities to attend these for learning and development. Gynaecology services include scanning in early pregnancy and acute gynaecology unit, elective surgery, general gynaecology outpatients clinic, specialist clinics including menopause, and ward cover.
We have an extensive gynae‑oncology service and the successful applicant will be expected to work with this team, including robotic surgery assistance. Senior duties in both obstetrics and gynaecology cover antenatal, post‑natal and gynaecology wards, antenatal and gynaecology outpatient clinics, the Day Assessment and Triage Units and the Early Pregnancy Unit. Ultrasound training is available and encouraged. Participation in theatre, rotation through the gynecology oncology team and active participation in audit are expected. There is opportunity to participate in the specialist interest clinics in the department, including Obstetric Medicine, Fetal Medicine, Rapid Access Clinic and Outpatient Hysteroscopy Clinics. You will also have an opportunity to attend some of the teaching sessions which take place weekly and the departmental monthly meetings.
Qualifications & Requirements
You must be a trust grade doctor. You must be able to produce all certificates stated essential in the person specification or you will not be able to complete pre‑employment checks. If you are being interviewed you must accept an interview slot in the system to continue, even if you have arranged with the manager.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites – Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester‑Le‑Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community‑based settings, including care in patients' homes.
