----------------------------------- About the Role Cardiff Council is seeking an experienced Procurement Solicitor (Grade 9) to join its Legal Services team within the Resources Directorate. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled legal professional to support the Council during a period of pending recruitment, delivering high-quality procurement and commercial legal advice within a dynamic public sector environment.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong legal expertise, leadership by example, and sound professional judgement, with the ability to inspire confidence among clients and colleagues while ensuring high standards of work.
----------------------------------- Key Responsibilities • Provide expert legal advice and support on procurement, contracts, and commercial matters.
• Lead on complex procurement and contractual issues, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and associated legal documentation.
• Take responsibility for maintaining high standards of legal work and service delivery.
• Identify practical solutions to legal and commercial challenges.
• Support and advise internal clients, building strong professional relationships.
• Demonstrate awareness of resource management and value for money.
----------------------------------- What We’re Looking For • A qualified Solicitor with substantial experience in procurement and commercial law.
• Proven ability to exercise sound, consistent legal judgement in a local authority or public sector setting.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead by example and inspire confidence.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to advise a range of stakeholders clearly and effectively.
• A proactive, solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
• Experience managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
