The Technical Manager for Elvis Evolution is a key leadership role within Layered Reality’s Technical Operations team. Charged with overseeing all technical aspects of this innovative production, the role ensures the flawless execution of performances, maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and technical precision. This includes the operation and maintenance of advanced systems such as audio systems, videos systems, lighting systems, and stage automation.
The Technical Manager will collaborate across creative, production, and technical teams to achieve seamless integration of artistic and operational goals. Working closely with the Senior Technical Manager, this role leads the technical team and ensures that this new state-of-the-art installation operates at peak performance. The ideal candidate combines exceptional technical expertise, leadership ability, strong troubleshooting skills, and a passion for delivering world-class immersive experiences.

Technical Operations
Ensure all technical systems, including audio, lighting, video, and automation, operate at peak performance and are maintained to industry-leading standards.
Implementing and document detailed pre-show checks, technical run-throughs, and operational protocols to ensure smooth performances.
Monitor system performance in real time, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues promptly to minimize disruption.
Maintain documentation for all technical elements, including schematics, signal flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
Safety & Compliance
Uphold the highest safety standards by implementing comprehensive risk assessments and compliance protocols in accordance with relevant regulations, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HSWA), especially with regard to the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER), Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), Work at Height Regulations 2005 as well as any other relevant legislation, and to remain abreast of any changes in the law.
Lead safety briefings and training sessions, ensuring the team is well-versed in emergency procedures and equipment use.
Conduct regular audits of equipment and working practices, addressing any deficiencies swiftly.
Serve as a role model for safety, fostering a proactive culture where team members feel empowered to identify and mitigate risks.
Resource & Budget Management
Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and inventory of technical equipment, ensuring all assets are in optimal condition.
Manage budgets effectively, balancing cost efficiency with the uncompromising quality standards of Layered Reality.
Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and vendors to source innovative solutions and secure top-tier support for technical operations.
Collaboration & Innovation
Act as the primary technical liaison with creative teams, translating artistic objectives into actionable technical solutions.
Collaborate with designers, directors, and production managers to integrate technical elements seamlessly into the overall guest experience.
Stay ahead of industry trends, introducing new technologies and methods to enhance production quality and operational efficiency.
Additional Duties
Represent the Technical Operations team in company-wide meetings, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
Provide on-the-ground support during technical rehearsals, previews, and performances, ensuring all systems run smoothly.
Assist in the development of company-wide technical standards, sharing knowledge and best practices with other productions and teams.
Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be requested by the Head of Production and Senior Technical Manager, General Manager or the Company.
Required Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a technical management role within live entertainment, immersive productions, or a related field.
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of audio systems (Q-SYS, d&b), Live band mixing, video technology, Video Mapping, lighting systems, and stage automation.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire teams, with a track record of fostering growth and collaboration.
Safety Acumen: In-depth knowledge of health and safety standards, including LOLER, PUWER, and risk assessment methodologies.
Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
