Join Our Team as a Family Support Worker
Welland Park Academy are seeking a compassionate and proactive Family Support Worker to help youngsters and families thrive. In this vital role, you'll provide targeted support to ensure students are provided with a safe and secure environment, working closely with parents, school staff, and external agencies to foster a positive and inclusive school.
The purpose of the job is to work directly with a designated caseload of students and their families to identify and remove barriers to attendance, engagement, and wellbeing. The Family Support Worker will deliver early help, sustained intervention, and targeted support to vulnerable students, particularly those experiencing declining attendance, welfare concerns, family instability, or complex personal circumstances.
The role aims to strengthen home–school relationships, support families in times of need or crisis, and promote improved attendance and engagement through practical support, advocacy, and effective multi agency collaboration.

WE ARE SEEKING A PROFESSIONAL INDIVIDUAL WITH:
•Strong communication skills – Able to build positive relationships with students, parents, and external agencies through clear and empathetic communication.
•Experience in supporting families with social, emotional, and behavioural needs – Understanding the needs of our families and providing tailored support to help children and families thrive.
•Proactive and organised – Capable of planning and delivering support activities and events for families while managing competing priorities.
•Empathetic and patient – Able to listen, engage, and offer guidance to children and families facing challenges, fostering a supportive school environment.
•Knowledge of safeguarding procedures – Demonstrates awareness of safeguarding principles, ensuring children's welfare and appropriate reporting.
•Ability to work independently – Skilled in managing workload, making decisions on day-to-day matters, and prioritising tasks effectively.
•Competent in IT and administrative tasks – Comfortable using school systems like CPOMS and Microsoft programs to maintain documentation and reports
