We are seeking an experienced Level 3 qualified Plumber to lead our team at HMP Norwich, a Category B/C adult male prison. Join a supportive team working Monday to Sunday in shifts, dedicated to maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
HMP Norwich functions like a self-contained city, requiring hundreds of staff to operate smoothly. Our Facilities Maintenance Team is committed to ensuring safe and efficient operations, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.
As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will work alongside and direct passionate colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators. You will lead a team of around 4-5 direct reports, supported by the Site Manager. We are a Ministry of Justice business providing critical, time-sensitive services to HMPPS and are looking for a Mechanical Supervisor with:
1. Five years’ experience as a plumber or equivalent
2. Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
3. Experience with commercial/industrial heating, water, or building services systems
4. Supervisory experience
5. Plumber qualification to C&G 6035, C&G 6189, and NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
6. Desirable: Up-to-date First Aid at Work qualification
7. Desirable: Relevant professional qualifications in facilities or project management
8. Good Health & Safety knowledge
9. Excellent organisational, time management, and people skills
