Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland. It’s not every job where you make a difference for the people of Scotland. But it’s what’s behind every job here. Our work keeps Scotland’s water flowing, from reservoir to tap – and from sewer to treatment plant.
We’re looking for a Metering Technician to join our Customer Excellence and Resilience Team in Aberdeen. In this role you’ll spend a fair amount of time working alone from site, so you’ll need to be self‑motivated, but still eager to contribute to your team’s goals. You’ll be part of a great team with loads of experience, and together we run Proactive and Reactive Wholesale activities across Scotland. Our big mission? To shake things up and achieve our goal of becoming a ‘Great Wholesaler.’ You’ll collaborate with the Wholesale Service Desk, Revenue & Wholesale teams, and our Alliance Partners, and when the need arises work with other internal and external stakeholders.
What You’ll Do
Your number one priority is resolving customer issues. You’ll take control of any situation, investigate problems and come up with solutions – always making sure they’re kept up to date.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for surveying water and wastewater systems, as well as installing, maintaining, and repairing water meters across a range of residential and commercial properties.
You’ll carry out routine repairs and maintenance on our metering assets, putting health and safety first, conducting risk assessment and audits on our Alliance Partners. DOMS Impact Assessment Form is on your to‑do list as well.
You’ll also conduct surveys to understand customer supply arrangements for water and wastewater, including some complex sites and dye testing. With plumbing skills and knowledge, you will be required to produce accurate field reports from your visits to provide License Providers with the information they need. We’ve got targets to meet, so making sure you handle your metering tasks like a pro is a big deal.
What You’ll Need
* Experience in water and wastewater systems with a strong emphasis on plumbing.
* Customer‑service champion, understanding the rules and regulations such as the Sewerage Scotland Act and Water Scotland Act, and Health and Safety at Work Act.
* Strong IT and communication skills (typing and talking). You’ll use digital equipment and apps throughout the day.
* Report writing skills that enable clear and accurate communication.
* Flexibility to work from various locations and knowledge of DOMS policies and procedures, Hygiene Code of Practice and Streetworks (NRSWA) is a plus.
* Valid UK driver’s licence.
* Knowledge of tools such as Salesforce/Youreka, GIS/Geofield/Field Maps, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is a plus.
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional late‑night or overnight stays.
