Teaching Assistant (Primary / Early Years / SEND)
Contract: Full-time / Part-time / Supply opportunities
Salary: £85-£100 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)
About the Role
We are looking for a caring, adaptable, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school community. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to support pupils' learning, development, and wellbeing - ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive in a safe and inclusive environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about education, particularly those with experience or interest in Early Years, Primary, or SEND support.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils across a range of abilities.
* Assist the class teacher in planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons.
* Support pupils with SEN or additional learning needs, promoting inclusion and positive behaviour.
* Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and organised classroom environment.
* Monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback to the teacher.
* Supervise pupils during playtime, lunchtime, and school activities as needed.
* Foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.
* Adhere to safeguarding policies and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Must-Have Skills and Requirements
* Level 2 or above Teaching Assistant / Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification (or working towards one).
* Experience working with children in a classroom, nursery, or educational setting.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children's learning.
* Reliability, punctuality, and a professional attitude.
Good-to-Have Skills
* Experience supporting pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, or speech and language needs.
* Understanding of the EYFS or National Curriculum.
* Knowledge of behaviour management strategies.
* Creative skills in art, music, or STEM activities to enhance learning experiences. Familiarity with educational software or assistive technologies.
* First Aid or Safeguarding certification.
