Role Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced and discreet House Manager to oversee the daily operations of a private residence in Essex. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the household, ensuring exceptional standards of service, and acting as the key liaison for the Principal.
This is a hands-on role requiring excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to managing a luxury property and lifestyle. The ideal candidate will have experience working within UHNW or HNW households and be confident managing staff, vendors, and high-end assets.
Key Responsibilities Household Operations: Oversee the smooth running of the residence including housekeeping, maintenance, security, and guest services.
Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise household staff including housekeepers, chefs, chauffeurs, and gardeners.
Wardrobe Management: Maintain and organise the Principals wardrobe including seasonal rotation, garment care, packing/unpacking for travel, and coordination with stylists or personal shoppers.
Vendor & Contractor Liaison: Manage relationships with suppliers and contractors, ensuring quality, discretion, and value for money.
Property Maintenance: Schedule and supervise regular maintenance, repairs, and refurbishments.
Budgeting & Procurement: Manage household budgets, track expenses, and oversee purchasing of supplies and luxury goods.
Event Coordination: Assist with planning and execution of private events, dinners, and family gatherings.
Security & Privacy: Ensure the safety and confidentiality of the Principal and their family at all times.
Lifestyle Support: Provide concierge-style assistance including travel arrangements, diary management, and personal errands.
Compliance: Ensure the property complies with all relevant health, safety, and insurance regulations.
Candidate Profile Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role within a private household or luxury hospitality setting.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
