We currently have a permanent band 6 Senior Staff Nurse position available.
Mark Ward is an acute stroke and neuro -rehabilitation unit at St Thomas Hospital. We have a committed multidisciplinary team who take an active role in the development of their staff and our service. As an essential part of the role you will be able to provide strong clinical leadership and assist the ward manager and deputies in leading the team, ensuring a high standard of care is delivered to patients and their families.

Main duties of the job
The Senior Staff Nurse role on Mark Ward forms integral in providing and contributing to stable and safe leadership within Stroke and Neurorehabilitation discipline at GSTT.
The duties and responsibilities of the post holder include supporting the nursing and MDT workforce in contributing to and delivering high standards of clinical leadership, clinical expertise with commitment to excellent standards of patient care, supporting in processes relating to people management, providing training and education to peers and new staff, supporting and leading the team in adhering to areas of compliance and governance whilst utilising proficient communication skills to support our patients and staff.

Knowledge/Qualification
Essential criteria
1. BSC/1st degree (health related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience
2. Mentorship/Teaching Qualification

Essential criteria
4. Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues. Knowledge of evidence based practice.
5. Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist care delivered to patients/clients and give relevant advice/information to patients and relatives
6. Ability to administer prescribed medication including transfusion of blood and blood products
7. Good communication skills and ability to deal with sensitive information. To include dealing with distressed relatives, care of terminally ill & other challenging situations
Desirable criteria
8. Competent in managing Tracheostomies
Experience
Essential criteria
9. Experienced and competent in the management of patients within the speciality
10. Experience of teaching/assessing/ supervising others in a clinical setting.
