Salary: c£32,000 per annum • Location: London/Hybrid • Hours: 35 hours per week, full-time, 1 year fixed-term contract
About the Role
We are looking for an Assistant Editor to join the team working on a leading architecture journal. You will be involved at every stage of the editorial journey, from editing and publishing articles to generating ideas and supporting social media and production processes for both print and digital platforms. This is a hands-on, proactive role designed for a detail-oriented individual to contribute to high-quality, thought-provoking content for a professional architecture audience.
Responsibilities
* Edit and publish articles for print and digital formats.
* Generate fresh ideas and support social media and production processes.
* Contribute to editorial planning and coordination across a publication’s lifecycle.
What we are looking for
Essential
* Proven ability to write engaging, fluent, accurate and well-structured copy with strong grammar and spelling.
* Knowledge of architecture, design and construction.
* Experience of copyediting and proofreading text.
* Evidence of engaging with digital journalism and social media.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with others.
Desirable
* Aptitude for generating and delivering ideas for publication.
* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and create robust schedules.
* Ability to deliver individual tasks to deadline while managing wider workload.
* Self-starter who can work independently and remotely while collaborating with a busy team.
* Experience of working in a content management system.
* Understanding of copyright laws and image licensing.
