Job overview
The Simulation and Essential Clinical Skills Department is pleased to be able to offer the tariff funded post of Band 7 Clinical Skills and Simulation Manager.
The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of the development and management of the Simulation and Clinical Skills Service on the Royal Sussex County and Princess Royal sites, providing a portfolio of simulation and clinical skills courses and educational programmes for internal and external clients, providing clinical teaching sessions in close liaison with course faculty and faculty leads. This will include the development and delivery of business plans concerning future activities within the Simulation and Clinical Skills department. The post holder will develop and deliver a programme of simulation and clinical skills teaching for all healthcare professionals. They will organise and deliver specialist teaching, in line with curriculum requirements, and contribute as faculty to medical, nursing, clinical and allied health professional simulation training. The post holder will have proven extensive acute clinical and educational simulation experience. There will be occasional cross trust working as service requirement demands.

• Act as a specialist in the field of simulation and clinical skills, with excellent communication and knowledge.
• Develop, plan and deliver a portfolio of simulation & clinical courses working as a specialist expert advising and supporting all healthcare educationalists, delegates and external stakeholders.
• Lead on the delivery, development and evaluation in line with clinical protocols, NHS initiatives, HEE initiatives, and staff needs.
• Work in close collaboration with all Trust educational leads to ensure the development of patient focused, collaborative protocols/practices/procedures and care.
• Work with all faculty, nursing and medical schools to ensure all healthcare professionals receive simulation and clinical skills teaching linked to curriculum requirements.

• Identify resources and faculty to carry out this specialist role. Implement and manage simulation and clinical skills to ensure continued development in response to needs, ensuring effective uptake of simulation and clinical skills sessions provided.
• Act independently in operating, maintaining and managing the simulation manikins and clinical skills trainers. As an expert, train appropriate colleagues in the operating and maintenance of these.
• Develop educational strategies in line with National curriculum standards.
• Lead and undertake surveys, as required that relate to simulation and education practice, feeding back findings to educational executive team and relevant colleagues.
• Test new simulation and training equipment and develop business cases to support the purchase of such equipment within the organisation.

Qualifications and Knowledge
* Registration with professional body (GMC/NMC etc)
* ALS, ILS, BLS Provider status
* ALS, ILS, BLS Trainer Provider status

* Professional teaching qualification (or currently working on)
