Principal Teacher of Support for Learning
Location: Harlaw Academy
Duration: Fixed Term - 12 months maternity cover, Full Time
PVG: Please note that some roles require PVG membership. Candidates will be required to meet the cost of PVG membership where applicable. The council will pay the PVG membership cost initially and this cost will be deducted from the first full month\'s salary payment.
Job Purpose
To contribute to the management of the school/service and the delivery of quality education through appropriate involvement of pupils, staff, parents, other agencies and the community, in accordance with the Authority\'s strategic plan, the school/service improvement plan, national priorities, local improvement objectives, current legislation, and local agreements.
Requirements
* Appropriate teaching qualification
* Full GTC (Scotland) registration in the appropriate subject/sector, or eligibility for such registration
* PVG scheme membership - Working with Children
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic direction and guidance to colleagues
* Lead curriculum development and quality assurance
* Teach the full curriculum in the relevant subject (or at least one subject area in a multi-departmental faculty) and develop the curriculum
* Prioritise work in the assigned areas of responsibility
* Demonstrate strong organisational skills
* Plan and prepare for teaching and learning to manage and organise classes
* Assess, record and report on pupil progress to inform teaching and learning approaches
* Prepare pupils for examinations and qualifications and contribute to good order and wider school needs
* Contribute to school and council planning and improvement processes
* Maintain and develop knowledge and skills and contribute to the professional development of colleagues including probationary and student teachers
