Location: Fully remote / Working from home; Start date: 16 February 2026; End date: Friday 31 July 2026; Rate: £65 per hour; Contract: Locum.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Adult Social Care Solicitor to support the WMDC Adults Legal Team on a locum basis. This is a fully remote role, ideal for an experienced local authority lawyer comfortable managing their own caseload.
Key Responsibilities
* Advising on all aspects of adult social care law
* Handling matters including Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), and Court of Protection work
* Providing timely, pragmatic legal advice to adult social care teams
* Managing cases independently and meeting statutory deadlines
Requirements
* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive (CILEx)
* Proven experience in adult social care law within a local authority setting
* Strong knowledge of Care Act, MCA, DoLS, and COP proceedings
* Ability to work autonomously in a remote environment
