Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
We’re seeking an apprentice with some customer service or administrative experience. You’ll join a friendly, close-knit team committed to supporting your growth, with full training provided on our internal systems.
Your primary duties and responsibilities will include:
* Acting as a point of contact for customers, clients and suppliers via email, over the phone or in person
* Welcoming customers and visitors to the building
* Booking meeting rooms for colleagues, arranging meeting schedules and general diary management
* Organising filing systems and updating office databases
* Basic accounts assistance such as tracking receipts and recording expenses, filing
* Arranging travel plans and hotel stays for staff members
* Ordering new office equipment, such as stationery, printer refills or staff uniforms
* Scheduling office meetings between teams, managers and departments
* Responding to questions and requests for information
* Taking notes at meetings, preparing the minutes and subsequently distributing them to all participants
* Provide efficient PA support to executive and senior management teams, assisting them in fulfilling the responsibilities and activities of their roles
* Ensuring that the policies of the company are observed, and that good practices are encouraged, particularly in the areas of Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, and confidentiality
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by the organisation which is relevant to your post within the company to meet the overall business objectives.
Our ideal candidate will have:
* Prior admin/customer service experience
* Experience with Microsoft programmes such as Word, Excel and Outlook
* Strong work ethic and initiative with the ability to work without supervision if required
* Good communication skills, both verbal & written
* Must be dependable, able to follow instructions & respond to management direction
* Previous work experience is essential

What you'll learn
Course contents
* Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation in order to: write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data. Examples include MS Office or equivalent packages. Able to choose the most appropriate IT solution to suit the business problem. Able to update and review databases, record information and produce data analysis where required.
* Produces accurate records and documents including: emails, letters, files, payments, reports and proposals. Makes recommendations for improvements and present solutions to management. Drafts correspondence, writes reports and able to review others' work. Maintains records and files, handles confidential information in compliance with the organisation's procedures. Coaches others in the processes required to complete these tasks.
* Exercises proactivity and good judgement. Makes effective decisions based on sound reasoning and is able to deal with challenges in a mature way. Seeks advice of more experienced team members when appropriate.
* Builds and maintains positive relationships within their own team and across the organisation. Demonstrates ability to influence and challenge appropriately. Becomes a role model to peers and team members, developing coaching skills as they gain area knowledge.
* Demonstrates good communication skills, whether face-to-face, on the telephone, in writing or on digital platforms. Uses the most appropriate channels to communicate effectively. * Uses relevant project management principles and tools to scope, plan, monitor and report. Plans required resources to successfully deliver projects. Undertakes and leads projects as and when required.
Training schedule
As a Business Administrator Apprentice, you will complete the following qualifications as part of your Apprenticeship:
* Level 3 Business Administrator Standard Apprenticeship Standard
* Level 2 Functional Skills maths and English if equivalents are not already achieved
* You will also develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to work within an office environment
This apprenticeship is delivered online in the workplace and 20% of your working time will be dedicated to training and learning new skills. You will be allocated a tutor who will provide you with personal support and assessment at pre-arranged times.
Assessment is through a variety of methods including observations in the workplace, witness testimonies, product evidence and professional discussions.
All evidence will be logged into your electronic portfolio.

5 subjects including maths & English (grade 5)
Desirable qualifications
A Level in:
Any subject (grade C or above)
