Financial Controller – Luxury Fashion Retail

We’re looking for a confident, detail-driven Financial Controller to oversee end-to-end financial operations in a SME luxury fashion brand— from monthly and quarterly reporting through to statutory accounts — while partnering closely with senior leaders in London and international teams overseas.
The Role
As Financial Controller, you will ensure the smooth running of all financial processes and deliver high-quality reporting to our head office. You’ll work cross-functionally with retail, e-commerce and wholesale teams, maintain strong financial controls, and manage cashflow and compliance requirements.
You will also supervise an Accounts Assistant and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead monthly and quarterly close, ensuring timely, accurate reporting in line with group accounting policies
* Prepare detailed quarterly management accounts with exceptional precision
* Manage key balance sheet areas, including corporation tax controls, deferred tax, share capital and shareholders’ funds
* Ensure financial accuracy throughout the year so that audit adjustments are not required
* Produce P&L, balance sheet and cashflow statements with reconciliations and variance analysis
* Oversee accounting for retail, e-commerce and wholesale sales, ensuring all expenses are approved and reconciled
* Manage end-to-end accounts payable and accounts receivable
* Monitor cashflow and ensure adequate working capital
* Prepare VAT returns and manage UK-specific compliance
* Lead year-end audit and deliver statutory financial statements
* Maintain strong governance, financial controls and company policy compliance
* Provide financial insights and support to senior leadership
* Supervise, coach and develop the Accounts Assistant
About You
* Studying toward or fully qualified in AAT / ACA / CIMA / ACCA
* Experienced in preparing financial statements and managing audits
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
* Familiar with SAGE 50 (highly desirable)
* Experienced in fashion retail or multi-channel retail accounting (advantageous)
* Professional, proactive and comfortable partnering across teams
* Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
* Able to coach and support others
* Resilient, adaptable and positive in approach
