Background:
This is an amazing opportunity for a Head of Risk to join one of the UK’s leading FinTech business on an interim project basis. This role presents the unique opportunity to navigate intricate environments whilst enhancing the operational risk management framework in a rigorous FCA regulatory landscape. As the Head of Risk, you will be instrumental in shaping the non-financial risk management strategy across the business, design and implement frameworks that align with the UK regulatory obligations whilst having the ability to influence senior stakeholders through data-driven risk advisory processes.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Assist the Board and senior management to establish, embed and communicate the operational risk management objectives and direction.
* Oversee the daily execution and management of all operational (non-financial) risk framework elements.
* Partner with the C-Suite to refine and implement the business risk strategy.
* Oversee the implementation of risk management processes, tools, analytics and other methods for identifying, assessing, monitoring and reporting of all risks.
* Oversee the implementation of a framework of risk limits, consistent with the group and Risk Appetite Framework and Risk Policies.
* Facilitate risk assessments and monitoring “Top Operational Risks” across the business.
* Oversee the design and implementation of stress testing and reverse stress testing.
* Support the effective running of the Risk Committee.
* Lead and empower a talented Operational Risk team, serving as the Second Line of Defence.
* Oversee the execution of underwriting business unit risk and control self-assessments.
* Quarterly Risk reporting to management and Board committees aligned to annual Risk Management Plan deliverables (e.g. stress and scenario testing and reverse stress testing; risk assessments; risk appetites; emerging risks and incident reporting etc.)
* Collaborate with Senior Management across Audit, Risk & Compliance, empowering informed decision-making and ensuring robust controls within the First Line of Defence.
* Safeguard the business from fraud by spearheading the Second Line of Defence for our fraud risk framework.
* Maintain effective alignment between the Risk Management function, other second-line functions (e.g. Compliance) and the third-line Internal Audit function.
* Foster a culture of risk awareness by training risk owners across the group.
What you’ll need:
* Extensive risk management experience gained in the UK Financial Services industry.
* People management experience.
* Experience of managing a portfolio of project work.
* Excellent presentation skills with the ability to present confidently at Board level.
* Excellent communicator with the ability to influence and negotiate.
* Commercial awareness and ability to understand broad business issues.
