Overview
An exciting opportunity for those interested in Criminal Justice and Law. The Police Prosecutor/Court Presentation Officer (CPO) works within Thames Valley Police to present low‑level traffic offences and Domestic Violence Protection Notices in magistrates’ courts.
Responsibilities
* Manage daily court listings ensuring cases meet prosecution and evidential standards.
* Prepare and present cases in court, including cross‑examining defendants and managing contested matters.
* Respond to mitigation, legal arguments and liaise with defendants, victims or interested parties at court regarding potential trial issues or procedures.
* After court, provide feedback, manage file upgrade requests, request link live applications and record outcomes on databases and systems.
* Build and maintain working relationships with Crown Prosecution Service, Defence, victims, perpetrators, defendants, and officers.
* Work cooperatively as part of a team, meeting deadlines in a high‑pressure environment and identifying and managing complex cases.
Qualifications and Skills
* Previous court‑presenting experience.
* Strong verbal and written presentation skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including negotiation and influencing.
* Experience of effective decision‑making and the ability to work as part of a team.
* Strong planning and organisational skills, able to identify issues promptly.
* Knowledge of crime, traffic and court procedures and relevant legislation.
* Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel) and experience working with databases.
* Full UK driving licence. Unattended hours occasionally required.
