About the Role

In recent years, our Technical Operations (TechOps) team has built a modern, high-performance infrastructure for Costello Medical across hardware, software, networks, cloud technologies and server systems. We maintain systems and manage knowledge, whilst acting as trusted tech advisors to help our various teams achieve their mission.

We are now seeking a motivated and enthusiastic IT Administrator to work closely with our team of experienced IT professionals. In this role, you will help bridge the gap between technology and people by delivering first‑class systems and hardware administration, providing advice and user support, and contributing to IT changes and upgrades. Your work will be led by a people‑first approach that maintains the trust and technical credibility necessary to guide our colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

* Providing day‑to‑day IT administration and support across a range of on‑premise and cloud‑based systems, including Microsoft 365.
* Managing user accounts, access permissions and devices to ensure colleagues can work securely and efficiently.
* Setting up, issuing and maintaining laptops and peripherals, and overseeing the full equipment lifecycle from procurement to disposal.
* Coordinating with external suppliers and managed service providers to resolve issues and deliver IT services effectively.
* Responding to a mix of routine and more complex IT requests, taking the time to understand user needs and working with senior colleagues to find practical solutions.
* Supporting colleagues across multiple offices, including occasional travel for on‑site IT tasks, office moves and infrastructure updates.
* Carrying out regular IT audits and housekeeping activities, such as access reviews and asset checks.
* Contributing to IT projects and system improvements, including researching, testing and implementing new tools or processes.
* Creating clear IT documentation, user guides and knowledge articles to support colleagues and promote self‑service.
* Delivering user communications, guidance and informal training to support system changes and new ways of working.
* Identifying opportunities to improve IT services and processes, and actively contributing ideas to enhance the user experience.

About You

The IT Administrator role is ideal for an ambitious and self‑motivated individual early in their tech career, who brings a genuine interest in IT and a strong desire to learn and develop their skills.

Essential Requirements

* Either at least 1 year of experience in an IT‑related role, a relevant bachelor’s degree, or an entry‑level industry qualification (e.g. CompTIA, Microsoft, ITIL).
* A working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
* Experience supporting or administering IT systems in a professional environment (managing users, permissions or shared files).
* A strong customer‑service mindset, with experience supporting users in a clear, friendly and professional way.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
* A proactive and solution‑focused approach to problem‑solving, with the confidence to ask questions and seek input when needed.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload effectively.
* A high level of attention to detail, particularly when working with systems, user access or confidential information.
* A collaborative approach to working, with a willingness to share knowledge and support team goals.
* Motivation to learn, develop your technical skills, and take ownership of your professional growth.

Desired Requirements

* Experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune, and Defender for Endpoint.
* Experience with MacOS.
* Experience with HaloITSM.
* Experience with Power Automate.
* Experience with PowerShell, Bash, and other CLI/scripting languages.
* Experience administering IT hardware, including procurement, configuration, returns, disposal, and maintaining an asset database.
* Experience developing IT knowledge articles and processes.

Benefits

* A starting salary of £26,250 to £32,000 per annum, depending on your previous experience, and a discretionary profit share bonus paid twice per year.
* 25 days' annual leave plus bank and public holidays, with a holiday buy and sell scheme.
* Flexible working hours and the chance to work from home for up to half of your working time after passing probation.
* Flexible benefits scheme offering cash payments, additional pension contributions and more.
* Private Medical Insurance which offers comprehensive cover on an "medical history disregard" basis.
* Paid study leave and funding for external qualifications.
* Critical Illness Cover, Income Protection and Life Assurance.
* Paid and unpaid sabbaticals based on length of service.

The Application Process

You are required to submit your CV and a cover letter via our online application form. In your cover letter, you must explain why you think you would be suited to the role and why you would like to join Costello Medical, with examples to support both.

* Describe a time when you have been involved in a positive IT change.
* Describe your approach to managing a high workload.
* Describe a time when you demonstrated excellent administrative skills.

Your CV should clearly state the dates of all qualifications and grades achieved where applicable. The deadline for applications is Sunday 14th June. If successful, you will be invited to a final interview in our office with senior members of the TechOps team, which also includes a collaborative assessment.
