Location: Barrow-in-Furness / Filton – Hybrid arrangement (2 days a fortnight at Barrow, 1 day a week at Filton) with regular UK site visits as required.
Salary: Up to £61,967 (commensurate with skills and experience)
Overview
Join TieTalent as an Engineering Manager – Electrical Systems. Lead a team to deliver the functional design and definition of Electrical Power Systems equipment, provide cross-disciplinary guidance, and engage with customers and suppliers to solve complex problems.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage an engineering team to deliver the functional design and definition of Electrical Power Systems equipment
* Manage processes and reviews of technical documentation
* Identify and manage technical risks, assumptions and dependencies
* Provide advice on electrical power technical aspects across a broad range of engineering disciplines
* Engage with customers and suppliers to provide solutions to complex problems
* Guide the team through the systems definition process
* Provide leadership and mentoring to junior team members to develop capability and skills
Qualifications
Essential
* Chartership or working towards chartership
* Engineering degree or HND with substantial experience in Electrical Engineering design / development
* Experience in design / development of power systems (concept through detailed design)
* Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systems
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Team leadership experience
Desirable
* Knowledge of defence standards
* Experience of Marine Electrical Systems
* Experience of working with engineering life cycle

About the team
Electrical Power Systems Definition team supports the UK’s next-generation SSN design, coordinating with UK, Australia and the United States technology inputs. The team defines system elements required for submarine design and build, including design documentation, spatial modelling and build outputs. Travel to various UK locations, including BAE, customer and supplier sites, is expected. Relocation assistance is available for eligible roles.
