We are a small, friendly team committed to providing a first class service. We are housed in a purpose built unit at Kettering General Hospital. We have a breast screening population of approx. 52,000 women and manage the administration for the Breast screening services. We also support the symptomatic one-stop breast clinics as well as follow up imaging clinics.
Kettering Breast Screening Unit is looking to appoint into a Clerical Officer post. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to apply to this substantive position.
This pivotal role combines people management with the chance to work in a fast-paced speciality. You'll be part of our dynamic admin team, helping to ensure that administrative processes run smoothly and effectively to support high-quality support and care.
The role would suit an enthusiastic, motivated and forward thinking individual looking for a challenge in a post that is both interesting and varied. The successful candidate will assist in the day to day running of the Breast Screening administrative team and will involve working closely with the leadership & the admin and clerical team.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the Breast Screening administration team, providing clerical support to ensure the delivery of the National Health Service Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) Consolidated Standards.
To also provide clerical support to the symptomatic breast imaging service at Kettering General Hospital. Duties will include clinic preparation, booking appointments, dealing with telephone enquiries and maintaining filing systems. Essential criteria include patient confidentiality, flexible approach to working, excellent communication skills, organisational skills including accurate data entry and good computer skills.
The post holder will be a key member of the breast screening team and support the achievement of our Excellence Values.

Job responsibilities
* Answer the telephone to deal with bookings, changes of appointments and queries for screening and symptomatic breast imaging and referring on as necessary.
* Computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
* Preparing screening and symptomatic clinics.
* Recording and processing attendance and non-attendance on the breast screening database.
* Posting appointment and results letters.
* Maintain efficient filing system, processing films for culling.
* Send weekly reports of screening results to GPs
* Assist in the requesting and sending of previous films and digital images.
* Work within the protocols of the department's Quality Management System.
* Undertake such training as is deemed necessary by the Programme manager, in accordance with the Breast Screening Programme.
* Attend departmental meetings as necessary and be actively involved in the improvement of the service.
Any other duties or tasks that may reasonably be deemed to come within the scope of the post.
Person Specification
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience working in an office/administration environment
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
* Experience of hospital IT systems including Careflow and CRIS
* Previous experience of working in a hospital environment
* Knowledge of NHS Breast Screening Programme & Breast symptomatic pathways

Qualifications
