Learning Support Assistant with 1:1 support St John’s Primary Academy St John’s is a large, successful primary academy that is committed to providing an excellent education for its pupils. The academy is located in Essington and attracts pupils from the village and surrounding districts in the Walsall and Wolverhampton area. It caters for pupils from the age of 2 to 11 and has a Before and After School provision. At present there are 710 children on roll and numbers are expected to remain at this level moving forward Due to rapidly expanding needs, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an energetic, patient, and nurturing individual to join our team as a Learning Support Assistant with some 1:1 support to support a child with special educational needs. This role will start on a fixed-term contract, with the intention of extending the contract upon review at the end of the fixed term. Applications are invited from an enthusiastic, hard-working LSA who has experience of and a passion for supporting children’s learning in school. The successful candidate will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and hold the relevant qualifications. The position is a mixed role to support children with a range of learning. If appointed, you will work alongside a team of teachers and other practitioners to develop and deliver an appropriate curriculum in line with the children’s needs. You will need a strong understanding of the Primary curriculum and your experience of supporting children will be fundamental to ensure the pupils you support are nurtured, motivated, encouraged to learn and achieve realistic goals, both socially and academically. When working with small groups and on a 1:1 basis, you will be building a consistent, trusting relationship with the child(ren), supporting them as they progress through the school and moving up through the school with them. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children with additional needs and be committed to providing both educational and basic care support. This role requires someone who is truly patient, nurturing, and dedicated to ensuring the children’s overall well-being and development within a supportive learning environment.
