Reporting to the Finance Director Group Accounting this role is varied, challenging, and crucial in establishing best-in-class processes to drive immediate efficiencies while creating a scalable service function. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all payroll activities from start to finish. You will contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance department while providing key insights and support to the HR Department - particularly the Head of Compensation, Benefits & Data - as well as Group Operations. This role can be based at any one of our three core sites in Comber, Coleraine or Cardiff. KEY ACTIVITIES Ensure compliance with Financial Control Systems and Procedures Manuals Maintain the Group payroll instruction manual and ensure a trained "backup" resource is available to run payroll as needed Take full accountability for payroll processing and reconciliation, handling all aspects from start to finish, including calculating overtime, issuing tax forms, managing special cases (e.g., maternity/sickness), ensuring timely payments, and distributing payslips Ensure all statutory and voluntary payroll reporting requirements are met, with deductions paid to relevant bodies within required timeframes Account for and process Apprenticeship Levy payments to the relevant authority Manage payroll year-end processing (e.g., P35s, P60s, and P11Ds) Handle ad hoc payroll duties and reporting Maintain staff payroll and tax records Manage pension auto-enrolment and Real-Time Information (RTI) reporting Serve as the primary contact for Standard Life and employees regarding pension queries, ensuring timely production of employee uploads and pension contribution payments Calculate and process monthly payroll recharges to statutory entities Liaise with HMRC, statutory auditors, and external agencies on payroll-related inquiries and requests Address payroll-related queries, including staff inquiries, error corrections, and costing discrepancies Contribute to the salaries budget process Capture and report employee-related insurance information Lead all developments and legislative updates related to payroll, such as Gender Pay Gap reporting and National Minimum Wage compliance Oversee all payroll-related communications Identify and implement service efficiency improvements Establish a framework for potential future acquisitions Produce a monthly payroll report, including KPIs on business metrics such as headcount, direct labour costs, salary vs. budget, productivity measures, and standard hours earned for use in other Group operational metrics Support the wider Finance, HR, and Operations functions as required Other To adhere to the companys Equal Opportunities policy and Dignity at work policy in all activities and to actively promote equality of opportunity wherever possible To be responsible for your own health and safety and that of your colleagues, in accordance with the companys Health and Safety policy To adhere to the companys Quality policy and Environmental policy To undertake other duties as may be reasonably required KEY SKILLS Essential A relevant payroll qualification or working towards one Previous experience in a similar role Proven experience and passion using data analytics for metrics reporting Proactive and intuitive with strong communications skills using a business partnering approach Strong IT and Excel skills are required Diligent and able to work efficiently with attention to detail, within required timescales Up to date knowledge of current payroll legislation, upcoming legislation and current taxation rates Proven ability to lead and drive processes, compliance, internal controls and recommend new controls to be implemented Desirable Previous experience in a multi-site manufacturing organisation would be advantageous Staffology/Iris Sage 50 Payroll SAGE x3 Finance (upload costing files) Pension Scheme administration (including experience with uploading to pension portal) The role involves processing payroll and expense transactions for Pelican Healthcare Ltd, Respond Healthcare Ltd, Eakin Surgical Ltd, TG Eakin Ltd, Armstrong Medical Ltd and Eakin R&D Ltd KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Internal Finance team Head of Compensation, Benefits & Data HR team Operations team IT team Managers and general personnel External HMRC and other regulatory bodies Auditors Software providers Pension providers Ad hoc external stakeholders ADDITIONAL INFORMATION There will be a requirement to travel to other sites from time to time.
