Overview
Part-Time (0.5 FTE), Fixed Term for 12 months. The Department of Media Arts at Royal Holloway, University of London, wishes to recruit a lecturer to teach cinematography and camera-based topics on its highly successful BA Film, Television, and Digital Production degree, based at its Egham campus. This position is initially offered as a 0.5 FTE fixed term appointment for one year. This is an exciting opportunity to join our diverse team whose passion for the practice and theory of all aspects of media production drives our focus on industry practices, employability, innovative technologies and techniques. The post offers the successful candidate the prospect of shaping the content and structure of courses while working closely with our student cohort – the next generation of visual storytellers. Responsibilities
* Teach cinematography and camera-based topics on the BA Film, Television, and Digital Production degree.
* Shape the content and structure of courses while working closely with the student cohort.
* Engage with a diverse range of students and foster an ethos of inclusion, equity, and collaboration within the department.
* Maintain and develop professional practice and industry links to support dynamic learning.
* Be supported to develop teaching practice through appropriate training, with potential to pursue a Professional Practice academic pathway.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience of professional practice as a cinematographer on features, shorts, or promo projects, with knowledge of working with a variety of digital and/or analogue camera and lighting technologies.
* Desirable but not essential: experience shooting for live streams, web content, or with virtual production; colour grading or editing equipment knowledge.
* Ideal candidate will have teaching experience in cinematography in higher education and will be supported to develop their teaching practice through appropriate training.
* Excellent communication, organisational, teamworking, and interpersonal skills, with experience of engaging with students, colleagues, or clients.
* Ability to draw on professional networks to enhance the department’s industry links and the learning environment.
