What is the job role?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Web Development Officer within the Digital Services Systems team.
As a Web Development Officer, you will play a key role in transforming the digital experience for Coventry City Council’s customers, staff and Coventry residents. Working within the Systems Team in Digital Services and stakeholders from across the organisation, you will plan, develop, and deliver web solutions that improve how residents, partners, and staff interact with the Council online.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Managing and delivering web development projects using a mixture of low-code platforms and professional development technologies from initial planning through to implementation, ensuring all work meets time, budget, and quality targets.
• Providing technical expertise in web development, ensuring all solutions comply with accessibility and security standards.
• Managing the integration of the Council’s website with other technical systems, such as Customer Relationship Management and mapping systems.
• Ensuring processes are in place to test and maintain changes, managing releases, and ensuring effective handover to operational teams.
• Keeping up to date with the latest government digital initiatives and best practices, feeding these into the Council’s digital strategies.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across Digital Services and other Council departments, as well as external partners, to deliver high-quality digital services that make a real difference to the people of Coventry. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a passion for web development to shape how services are delivered to residents of Coventry and City Council staff.
All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.
Who are we looking for?
As a Web Development Officer, you will be working in an agile environment, designing and developing online services used by both staff and citizens of Coventry.
We utilise a mixture of low-code platforms and fully developed systems to provide the best solution for our users. This includes the use of the Granicus govService (Firmstep) and Microsoft low-code platforms, whilst making the most of Microsoft’s .NET, SQL, and Azure development platforms in order to build solutions and integrate our many back-office systems.
You will be highly motivated and able to work and prioritise development projects independently whilst working in multi-disciplined project teams with colleagues in the Systems Team and wider organisation to create high quality solutions that make a real difference to our users.
As part of this, you will be required to take a lead on development projects, attend meetings with stakeholders, investigate continual improvement opportunities and learn new development technologies to best fit the solution.
