The NHS Resolution Claims Management function has embarked on the next phase of transformation and expansion with a vision to deliver a single, integrated claims function, with a supportive organisational structure that avoids duplication of effort and allows teams to develop their skills.

The claims teams manage claims emanating from former PCTs and Strategic Health Authorities, which transferred to the Secretary of State. The claims teams work in an interesting and dynamic climate, all contributing to a continually improving claims service.

The opportunity

As NHS Resolution continues to grow, we are recruiting for Claims Managers - Non Clinical with experience and technical knowledge in a clinical negligence or non-clinical setting to join us and support our main aim by proactively managing claims from commencement to conclusion on behalf of Members and Beneficiaries of the indemnity schemes that we are responsible for as an NHS arm’s length body.

What you’ll be doing

You will be responsible for investigating, reserving, negotiating and settling a range of non-clinical liability and property claims, including all types of Employers’, Public, Product, Directors’ and Officers’ liability, Data Protection and Professional Indemnity claims, from reporting to conclusion, within agreed authority levels, in accordance with the NHS Resolution’s policies/ procedures and utilising the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) portal as required. You will also be required to oversee litigation conducted on behalf of NHS Resolution by panel law firms and first party property claims and any associated recoveries.

You will contribute to successfully managing claims on behalf of NHS Trusts, NHS England and associated NHS Bodies. Claims Managers - Non Clinical are responsible for their own portfolio of complex and non-complex cases and conduct the investigation, quantification, and negotiation of these claims to conclusion.

What we’re looking for

To be considered for this opportunity you must have technical knowledge and experience of claims management in clinical negligence or non-clinical setting. As well as demonstrating the following:

* Understanding of current law and statutes relevant to Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence and/or Property Litigation
* Experience of working in any of the above areas
* Experience of litigation in any of the above areas would be an advantage
* Ability to draft documents and complex correspondence in a concise and professional manner (particularly in legal area)
* Evidence and ability of managing a large caseload within strict time limits and conflicting priorities
* Ability to work as a team member and collaboratively with other teams
* Exceptional customer focus and awareness
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to focus on continuous service improvement and innovation
