Job Description for Operator Driver Maintainer

Purpose of the Role
* Operate specific vehicles used for project work in your field of specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in accordance with safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
* Book on and off duty as per rosters and weekly orders.
* Report fit for duty physically, emotionally, and mentally.
* Wear personal protective clothing (P.P.C.) as provided.
* Maintain clear communication with Rugby Control Room (Help Desk).
* Work safely and competently.
* Carry out emergency procedures when required.
* Perform additional duties as directed by team leaders or managers.
* Liaise with Control Room / Operations Managers regarding worksite information, vehicle breakdowns, accidents, and drug screening requests.
* Complete all necessary paperwork and administrative duties accurately.
* Maintain machines to required standards, keeping them clean and tidy.
* Report on-site incidents and infrastructure damage promptly.
* Coordinate with maintenance for servicing, repairs, faults, and spares.
* Act as a liaison with on-site customers when performing HGD.
* Maintain knowledge of route learning, route retention, and training procedures.

Person Specification
* Knowledge of traction, routes, rules, regulations, and operating notices.
* Ability to sign, read, and understand notices affecting route knowledge.
* Safe movement of machines in accordance with rules.
* Adjust driving techniques based on conditions.
* Vigilance in observing signals and reporting irregularities.
* Report safety incidents to Network Rail promptly.
* Personal route learning and refreshing.
* Perform annual driving assessments and biennial rules and regulations certification.
* Perform DOO duties if meeting Colas Rail standards.
* Conduct safety checks and communicate with site customers.
* Assist with machine repairs and maintenance as trained.
Qualifications/Experience
* Proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook.
* Good communication skills.
* Positive attitude and professional pride.
* Availability for weekend, bank holiday, and shift duties.
* Mechanically minded with NVQ Level 3.
* Clean road vehicle driving license.
