Contract: Part Time, 30 Hours Per Week (Weekdays 7am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 6pm), 39 Weeks Per Year (Term Time Only)
Ysgol Bryn Derw are seeking to appoint a caretaker to work 30 hours a week on a term time only contract, Monday to Friday, for 39 weeks per year.
Ysgol Bryn Derw opened in September 2017 for young people aged 3-19 who have been diagnosed with ASD and associated complex learning needs. The school currently has 124 pupils across 3 sites (in Gaer, Bettws and Caerleon) and aims to provide the highest possible standards of education and support for all its pupils regardless of their level of educational need.
The postholder will work mainly at the Kimberley Park site in Bettws, but will also be required to work at the Caerleon site and the Melfort Road site on the Gaer.
We are looking for a committed caretaker who will thrive on this exciting opportunity and who will be able to engage with and work alongside the specific needs of the pupils in this specialised setting.
Responsibilities
* Ensure general premises maintenance and repairs as required.
* Carry out caretaking and premises management duties, including building cleaning and maintenance tasks.
* Be flexible and able to manage own work effectively.
* Use initiative and work with regard to the specific needs of the pupils.
* Lift and carry heavy items as required.
Person specification / Qualifications
* Good literacy and numeracy skills.
* Good communication skills.
* Experience of caretaking or premises management, building cleaning or building maintenance is desirable.
* Flexible and able to use own initiative.
* Ability to carry out general repairs.
* Ability to lift and carry heavy items.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Ability to manage own work effectively.
