Air Traffic Engineer – Cambridge City Airport
Marshall, an independent, family‑owned British company, proudly helping our customers move forwards since 1909. We are currently seeking an Air Traffic Engineer to join our small and highly motivated team at Cambridge City Airport.
Competitive salary and remuneration package including 27 days holiday, pension contributions matched up to 9%, and working on site in Cambridge.
Responsibilities
* Provide ATSEP provision to ensure that the Air Traffic Services is compliant with EASA regulations, CAP 670 and the Manual of Air Traffic Services (MATS) Part One.
* Report to the Manager Air Traffic Engineering for routine day‑to‑day safe and proper provision of air engineering services, as detailed in MATS Parts 4 and relevant CAA regulation.
* Comply with departmental procedures and practices in supporting in‑service air traffic related equipment whilst conforming to the Aerodrome Safety Management System and the Manual of Air Traffic Services Part 4 – Air Traffic Engineering.
* Maintain all Navigation Aids and Air Traffic Systems in compliance with UK CAA Safety Regulation Group publications, CAP 670 Air Traffic Services Safety Requirements and applicable EASA requirements.
* Maintain all safety‑related documentation within the functional area.
* Conduct scheduled maintenance of all safety‑related equipment and systems within remit.
* Ensure that all maintenance records are completed and retained.
* Ensure that the Aviation Ground Lighting Control and Monitoring System is maintained in compliance with UK CAA Safety Regulation Group publications CAP 670 and applicable EASA requirements.
* Attain and retain personal approvals and certifications required for the management of safety‑critical equipment and systems.
* Maintain personal competency in the maintenance, test and repair of safety‑critical equipment and systems as defined in MATS Part 4.
* Achieve personal training required to provide theoretical knowledge and practical ability to maintain, test and repair safety‑related equipment and systems.
* Ensure personal retention of all relevant approvals and certifications required by various regulators.
* Maintain competency and ensure assessment at regular intervals as required by regulations on all specified safety equipment and systems.
* Coordinate with Facilities and I.T. Departments to ensure that all airport infrastructure and utilities impacting operation are maintained, tested and repaired as required.
Qualifications & Technical Competencies
* High depth of understanding of air traffic engineering discipline, particularly of an independent air traffic engineering unit.
* Able to take full responsibility for own work (and that of others where applicable).
* Deal with complex situations holistically and make business‑critical decisions affecting safety, compliance and operational availability.
Education & Certifications
Required
* Educated to ONC/HNC level or higher, electronic/avionics, or relevant experience.
* ATSEP qualified Basic/Shared or PTC engineer holding relevant unit ATSEP competencies in at least 80% of equipment types in use.
* ATSEP qualified in at least 80% of equipment streams held or PTC engineer with equivalent competencies.

* On‑site, occasional travel for courses or attendance at events (national and international).
* Ability to climb stairs (no lift to visual control room and radar tower).
* Security clearance requirement.
* Vehicle driving licence to support airside driving.
