Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team on a 2 year training contract. We are looking for versatile individuals who can adapt and cope with high‑pressure situations. The successful candidate will be able to prioritise their own workload and work flexibly within the team. All staff must work weekends and bank holidays on a rostered basis – currently one bank holiday per year and one weekend (Sat & Sun) every 8 weeks. The pharmacy provides a clinical pharmacy service to Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Dorset University Foundation Trust (DHUFT). It has a state‑of‑the‑art dispensary with an ARX robot, a Prescription Tracking System (PTS) and full Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) throughout the hospital.

Within the workplace you will rotate through areas of the Pharmacy department, working alongside a friendly and experienced team. You will gain practical experience in dispensing, distribution, ordering and medicines management on wards, and specialised areas such as aseptic services. Person care is at the centre of all we do; as a pre‑registration trainee you will help patients with medication adherence, optimisation and healthy‑lifestyle advice.

As a student you will study towards becoming a registered Pharmacy Technician – a Level 3 qualification fully funded over the 2 year training period. The course is a blended learning experience with 20 % off‑the‑job learning and an expectation of additional study outside working hours. It is assessed through coursework, case studies and a final portfolio.
