Main duties of the job
Youll play a keyrole in delivering high-quality NHS Dental Therapy and Hygiene services tochildren across all five of our PDSE sites. This service will make a realdifference to young patients and help ensure everything runs smoothly andefficiently along the way.

Role summary
Toprovide high quality NHS dental therapy and hygiene services within the DentalEducation Practice (DEP). Patients may be referred via student teaching clinicsor from our team of qualified dentists. You may also be involved in triagesessions to identify suitable patients for students to treat.
There may also be an opportunity to supervise the clinicaltraining of BSc Dental Therapy and Hygiene students. This will includesupporting the development of clinical skills, knowledge and professionalbehaviour.

Keyaccountabilities
Provide clinically appropriate, high qualityNHS dental treatment to patients, following all relevant standards andguidelines.
Maintain PDSE standards of clinicalgovernance, including infection control, patient confidentiality, clinicalrecord keeping, etc.
Regularly carry out audits of clinicaltreatment, both own work and student treatment provision.
Monitor the activities and actions of thestudents in order to ensure development of clinical skills and knowledge andoffer guidance in all aspects of clinical dental practice
Ensure health and safety procedures areobserved at all times
Support clinical dental education standards byworking to evidence-based practice and National and locally agreed (PeninsulaDental School) clinical guidelines and care pathways
Support the work of the whole dental teamemployed by PDSE

Knowledge, Education and Training:
A BSc or Diploma in Dental Therapy
GDC registration

PDSE will not permit staff to work inexcess of 48 hours in any one week except where there are exceptional serviceneeds where an absolute limit of averaging over a reference period of 17 weekswould apply.
