Role Description

Bank Female Support Worker

Location:

Hedge End, Southampton

Salary:

£12.47 per hour plus benefits

Hours:

0 hrs, shifts are between 7AM and 10PM, Monday to Sunday, on a shift rota basis.

Contract:

Part-time, Bank

Driving Requirement:

A valid full UK manual driving license is preferable but not essential

At Stewards Bungalow, we’re proud to support an extraordinary lady with autism who is non-verbal but communicates with remarkable fluency using British Sign Language (BSL). Her ability to express herself through BSL is truly inspiring and we’re looking for someone who can match her energy and precision, letter by letter.

About You

We're looking for compassionate and patient support workers to join our expanding family in Hedge End area, who share our commitment to embracing differences, promoting inclusivity, and respecting one another.

Essential Criteria

To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate exposure to two of the following areas of expertise:

1. Autism and Learning Disabilities
2. Visual Impairment
3. Physical Disabilities
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills

What will you be doing?

As a Bank Support Worker, you'll play a pivotal role in empowering individuals to achieve their fullest potential and live their best lives. Your responsibilities will extend beyond providing support, as you become an integral part of their personal journey! Here's what you'll be doing:

5. Daily Care & Support: Helping with personal care, meal preparation, medication, and other daily tasks.
6. Building Relationships: Getting to know the person you support, understanding her needs, and helping her live life on her own terms.
7. Empowering Independence: Assisting with personal goals, from daily activities to long-term aspirations, and encouraging creative exploration.
8. Social Engagement: Supporting activities like holiday’s, social events, and hobbies, ensuring everyone could enjoy what they love doing.
9. Respect & Dignity: Ensuring that the individuals and their families are treated with the utmost respect, dignity, and equality.

Registered as The Royal School for the Blind, SeeAbility is one of the oldest disability charities in the UK. This year we are celebrating our 225th anniversary, having pioneered specialist support across multiple generations since 1799!

We specialise in supporting people who have learning disabilities, autism, complex needs, who may also have sight loss.
