Service Care Solutions are recruiting for an Escort / Fabric Officer (Escort / Fabric Operative) to support facilities operations on a secure custodial site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone practical and hands-on who enjoys problem-solving, learning new skills, and supporting the safe, day-to-day running of a busy site.
PAY / BOOKING TYPE
• £175 per day (Umbrella)
• Ad-hoc / bank bookings – no fixed hours (work offered as and when required)
OVERVIEW
The site operates like a self-contained city. The Facilities Maintenance Team supports the safety and wellbeing of staff, visitors and those living on site, as well as the wider community. As an Escort / Fabric Operative, you’ll play an active role in the day-to-day upkeep of the site, working alongside a diverse team including electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, cleaners, engineers and administrators.
This role suits someone with strong practical ability who enjoys varied work—using tools, completing basic repairs, and supporting engineering colleagues—while following strict secure-site procedures.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supporting the day-to-day maintenance and operational running of the establishment
• Completing / assisting with basic building fabric repairs and general upkeep tasks
• Using hand and power tools safely and effectively
• Supporting engineers and other trades with practical tasks as required
• Working to safe working practices with strong Health & Safety awareness
• Operating professionally on a secure custodial site, following all site rules and procedures
REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
• Experience using hand and power tools
• Practical experience in building fabric / maintenance or Hard FM
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe working practices
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to communicate professionally on site
Desirable:
• Level 2 English & Maths
• First Aid at Work
• Previous experience working in a secure environment
VETTING / ELIGIBILITY (IMPORTANT)
This role is subject to vetting that typically takes around 12 weeks. Because of vetting requirements:
• Applicants must have lived in the UK continuously for the last 5 years
• Applicants must not have any previous criminal convictions
