We're working with a leading client in the defence sector seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their team in Reading on a 4-month contract.
Candidates must hold active SC Clearance Required
Location: Reading/Hybrid
Contract: 4 Months (Inside IR35)
The Role
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you'll act as the technical authority across one or more platform engineering domains - such as cloud, virtualisation, automation, networking, or cyber tooling. You'll design and implement secure platforms across on-premise, hybrid, and cloud environments, driving architecture, delivery, and innovation.
You'll also provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and ensure delivery excellence across projects.
Key Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Strong background with Windows and Linux operating systems
* Virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V) and containerisation (Kubernetes, Docker)
* Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls)
* Automation & Scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform)
* Knowledge of cyber security controls and accreditation frameworks
* Experience across the systems engineering lifecycle
Desirable:
* Cloud expertise (AWS, Azure) & Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
* Experience with enterprise integrations (Active Directory, PKI, SIEM, monitoring)
* Familiarity with DevSecOps tools and CI/CD pipelines
* Relevant industry certifications (VMware, AWS, Microsoft, Kubernetes, etc.)
