A leading UK legal firm is seeking a Tax Compliance Manager to join its top-tier Private Wealth & Tax team in Edinburgh. Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Tax Compliance Team, supervising three assistants and ensuring timely, accurate delivery of all work.
* Review personal tax compliance across individuals, trusts, estates and charities, maintaining high technical standards.
* Provide clear, expert advice on tax returns, liabilities, claims and elections.
* Ensure all submissions to HMRC meet statutory deadlines through strong controls and efficient processes.
* Work closely with senior tax leaders to manage workflow and maintain a smooth compliance operation.
* Oversee capital gains tax reporting for residential property transactions.
* Build strong client relationships, explaining complex issues simply and supporting clients through sensitive matters.
* Manage billing processes and ensure effective use of internal systems.
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
* Support wider team initiatives, knowledge sharing and occasional business development.
About You
You will be a tax professional with strong personal tax compliance expertise, ideally gained within an accountancy practice, professional services firm or private client environment.
Essential Experience
* Recent tax compliance experience, ideally including trusts and estates.
* Experience advising clients on tax returns and tax liabilities.
* Familiarity with tax software and HMRC online systems.
* Strong organisation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Experience
* Experience managing or mentoring junior team members.
* Ability to build strong relationships with high-value private clients.
* Excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy.
* A proactive mindset with an interest in expanding technical tax knowledge.
