Senior Occupational Therapist
The Senior Occupational Therapist will work as an autonomous practitioner, delivering a high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy service to inpatients and outpatients, including individuals with complex physical, cognitive, or psychosocial needs. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of specialist therapy interventions, supporting patients to maximise functional independence and quality of life.
The role requires effective management of a specialised caseload, contribution to multidisciplinary team working, and active involvement in discharge planning. The post holder will provide specialist clinical advice to colleagues, patients and carers, using advanced clinical reasoning and communication skills. Accurate documentation, outcome measurement, and adherence to professional, hospital and HCPC standards are essential.
The Senior Occupational Therapist will contribute to service development through audit, service evaluation, education, and evidence-based practice initiatives. Responsibilities include supporting junior staff, participating in induction, teaching and supervision, and maintaining continuous professional development.
The post holder must demonstrate strong organisational skills, flexibility, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. A commitment to clinical governance, safeguarding, risk management, infection control, equality and diversity, and hospital values is essential to the role.
