Senior NDT Inspector – Dalton, Thirsk
Lead and primary point of contact for all Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities during your assigned shift. This is a critical role requiring a highly skilled and certified professional with deep expertise in structural steel specifications and inspection techniques. You will ensure that all NDT operations are carried out to the highest standards of quality, safety and compliance.
Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate all NDT activities during the shift, ensuring timely and accurate inspections.
* Interpret and apply relevant standards and specifications including BS EN ISO, AWS and ASME.
* Perform and oversee NDT methods:
o Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
o Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)
o Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)
o Visual Testing (VT)
* Review and validate inspection reports for clarity, accuracy and traceability.
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior inspectors and technicians.
* Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and maintained.
* Collaborate with production, quality and engineering teams to resolve inspection-related issues.
* Support investigations, audits and root cause analysis related to quality concerns.
* Champion a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
* PCN Level 2 in Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI).
* Relevant PCN Ultrasonic Testing (UT) certifications covering welds, forgings and castings.
* CSWIP 3.0 Welding Inspector certification (3.1 advantageous).
* Solid understanding of structural steel fabrication and inspection requirements.
* Proven ability to interpret technical drawings, weld symbols and inspection criteria.
* Excellent communication skills and leadership to mentor others.
