About the Opportunity
Milk Education is proud to be working with a number of welcoming and inclusive primary schools across South Shields. We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic Unqualified Teaching Assistants who are passionate about supporting children’s learning and development.
This role is ideal for:
Individuals with relevant experience supporting children or young people
Graduates within the last 3 years looking to gain classroom experience
Candidates with strong transferable skills from roles such as youth work, coaching, mentoring, care, or support work

Key Responsibilities
Provide classroom support across EYFS, KS1, or KS2
Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to support learning outcomes
Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and activity delivery
Support pupils with additional needs including SEND, SEMH, or behavioural challenges
Help implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policy
Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and confidence
Support during break times and transitions where required
Observe and report on pupil progress to teaching staff
Candidate Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have:
Experience working with children or young people in any capacity (education, tutoring, sports coaching, care, youth work, etc.) OR
A degree obtained within the last 3 years (any subject considered) OR
Demonstrable transferable skills such as leadership, mentoring, customer-facing communication, or support-based roles
You should also demonstrate:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
Strong behaviour management awareness
A genuine passion for supporting children’s development
A willingness to learn and develop within a school environment
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Desirable
Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning
Experience supporting pupils with SEND, ASD, ADHD, or SEMH
Knowledge of phonics, early reading strategies, or primary curriculum
