Norfolk Wildlife Trust (NWT) is the county’s largest environmental charity, committed to the protection and enhancement of Norfolk’s wildlife and wild places. NWT is a registered charity and the oldest Wildlife Trust in the country. Established in 1926, it manages over 60 nature reserves and other protected sites in Norfolk, including ten kilometres of coastline, nine Norfolk broads, nine National Nature Reserves and five ancient woodlands.
Position
Communications and Engagement Officer – Fixed Term contract until 31 March 2028 (potential extension and increased hours if funding is secured for the project delivery stage). Part‑time, 4/5 days. Salary £27,108 per annum pro rata. Location: Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Bewick House, 22 Thorpe Road, Norwich, Norfolk, NR1 1RY.
About The Role
The role is within the Hickling Broad and Marshes project, the largest of the Norfolk Broads. It aims to deliver conservation and ecological outcomes for the nature reserve alongside social, economic and wellbeing outcomes for a range of audiences.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement a communications plan for the project.
* Act as the central point of contact between Norfolk Wildlife Trust and project stakeholders.
* Lead engagement activity with local communities, ensuring that local ideas and concerns are fed into the project development.
* Build relationships with local stakeholders, interest groups and communities.
* Deliver a range of communications, including developing engaging content for a variety of media.
Qualifications
* Experience of community consultation and audience development.
* Proven track record of building relationships with local stakeholders, interest groups and communities.
* Good track record of delivering communications and engaging content for a variety of media.
* Passion for making a positive impact for Norfolk’s wildlife.
Potential for Extension
The role may be extended into the delivery phase of the project, subject to successful outcomes of the development phase.
