Firefighter Control, Interservice Transferee – Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service
Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service is currently seeking applications from existing Firefighter (Control) personnel who are competent or in development for a Firefighter (Control) vacancy within our Fire Control.
We invite applications from current Firefighter (Control) personnel who are in development or competent. Those employed within another fire and rescue service are welcomed as inter-service transferees and will be required to complete conversion training to ensure familiarity with the NFRS Mobilising System and processes.

Our Fire Control Mobilising and Communications Centre, based at West Hartford Community Fire Station, handles emergency calls and dispatches Fire & Rescue Service resources.
The Fire Control is responsible for:
1. Accepting emergency and non-emergency calls from various sources.
2. Mobilising resources according to our CRMP.
3. Maintaining communication with resources.
4. Managing information on operational resources and personnel, including daily staffing.
5. Coordinating with other emergency and non-emergency agencies.
6. Providing survival guidance advice to callers during fires and special service calls.
7. Supporting functions such as risk data management, performance management, and in-house training for control staff.
This vacancy is permanent, working 42 hours on a watch-based rota, subject to NJC Grey Book Conditions of Service. Further details are available in the role map.
The current salary is £27,970 for Firefighter (Control) Development and £35,791 for Firefighter (Control) Competent.
Essential criteria:
* You must be a competent or developing Firefighter (Control), currently employed in a UK Fire and Rescue Service.
* No outstanding 'unspent' disciplinary warnings.
Selection Process:
The process will align with workforce and succession planning requirements. Applications will be reviewed against the UK FRS National Occupational Standards (NOS). Eligible candidates will proceed to the next stage.
