An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Band 3, Therapy Assistant, to join our experienced, dedicated and forward thinking outpatient respiratory and amputee physiotherapy team at Milton Keynes University Hospital.
This post is based within the respiratory and amputee outpatient physiotherapy service where the team provides an outpatient Physiotherapy service for patients with lung disease, amputation and those requiring rehabilitation following critical illness. The team also receives other specialist referrals for people who have shortness of breath and chronic cough.

Main duties will include supporting the delivery of pulmonary rehabilitation, which includes exercise and education sessions and assisting with the critical care rehabilitation group. In addition, the Therapy Assistant may assist the amputee physiotherapist with patients who need the support of two members of staff. The role also includes management and maintenance of equipment, stock check of equipment and ordering and printing patient leaflets and the scheduling and management of patient appointments.
We are looking for a confident, dynamic, enthusiastic, organised, self‑motivated individual who ideally has existing experience within a physiotherapy and/or healthcare environment. IT skills are essential to the role.

As part of a patient’s therapeutic care plan and under the supervision of a registered therapist, provide support with group exercise therapy, 1:1 patient exercise and joint treatments with other team members when necessary.
To be responsible for the safe and competent use of all appropriate equipment, checking equipment is safe for patient use and teaching patients to assemble & dismantle equipment efficiently.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
