City Building provides a range of repairs and maintenance, manufacturing, construction and refurbishment activities for Glasgow City Council and Wheatley Housing Group’s citizens and customers as well as other public, private and third sector organisations.
We are currently recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join our External Reporting and Compliance Lead Finance team. This team is key for the delivery of external reporting and compliance including the preparation of the annual accounts, completion of statutory returns, VAT and other tax accounting, treasury, and audit. You will work alongside the External Reporting and Compliance Lead and Senior Financial Accountant.
The Financial Accountant will be responsible for statutory financial reporting, audit support, tax compliance, and maintaining robust financial controls, while providing insightful analysis and commentary to inform strategic decision-making. The role also includes managing balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset records, and stock valuations, as well as deputising for the Senior Financial Accountant when required.
The successful candidate will have specialist knowledge of financial and accounting procedures and experience of working in a finance function within a complex business environment. You will be experienced in utilising financial ledger systems to support reporting and forecasting, including the preparation of annual accounts and balance sheets as well as handling key reconciliations.
As the Financial Accountant you will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to understand and utilise large complex data sets to drive business performance and financial decisions. You will effectively manage work priorities and plan resources for the delivery of outcomes within agreed timescales.
You will deliver professional, consistent, and appropriate financial support across City Building, in line with statutory accounting guidance and regulations.
To be considered for this role you must hold a degree or equivalent level qualification in relation to Finance. Membership of a CCAB professional body or oversees equivalent is essential.
