Job Summary
Our welcoming and supportive Adult Community Mental Health Service in Ware is recruiting a Senior Social Worker to join a multidisciplinary team. In this role you will inspire, lead, and manage staff, ensuring the delivery of Care Act expectations for social care and safeguarding.
All Senior Social Workers must be registered with Social Work England. Previous applicants need not apply.
Main Duties
* Promote, lead and act in accordance with the principles of personalisation and wellbeing within a multi‑disciplinary mental health team.
* Provide robust, consistent, expert social care practice advice in partnership with specialist senior social care colleagues.
* Support newly qualified social workers through the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) as an assessor and engage in the moderation process.
* Undertake duties as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) or be willing to undertake AMHP training.

Job Responsibilities
* Champion social care with comprehensive understanding of legislation.
* Maintain links and attend meetings with the corporate Social Work and Safeguarding Team.
* Undertake complex assessments and reviews for high‑risk individuals, ensuring eligibility under the Care Act 2014.
* Provide direct support to service users, carers and colleagues, signposting when social care eligibility is not met.
Person Specification – Essential
* Appropriate professional social work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
* Degree level education; Masters or equivalent training preferred.
* Approved Mental Health Professional training and qualification, or readiness to undertake within one year.
* At least five years post‑qualification experience with evidence of advanced practice.
* Extensive knowledge of legislation, statutory guidance and policy related to adult and child social care.
* Experience in assessment focused on personalisation, choice and control, and care planning.
* Understanding of personal budgets and direct payments.
* Experience supervising and mentoring staff.
* Evidence of multidisciplinary and collaborative working and partnership with service users and carers.
Person Specification – Desirable
* Post‑qualifying training such as CBT, family therapy, or best interests assessment.
